The following world wide web servers provide additional information about archaeology or can link you to other archaeological resources on the web:

The Mississippian Moundbuilders and Their Artifacts   While the lower midwest and southeastern United States may be home to a distinct form of urbanism today, the Mississippian mound builders of 1200 years ago began to engage in a form of urban development that would stand unrivaled in the area for over five hundred years. Anthony Stein has done a fine job of bringing their story to the Internet, as he offers an important perspective on the Native Americans in this region of the United States, and more specifically, their material culture and artifacts. Visitors to this site will find 10 sections devoted to a different type of Mississippian artifact, including pottery, flint implements, pipes, and ear ornaments. Within each section, Mr. Stein explains the importance of each type of artifact within everyday life, while including images of each type of artifact.

Archaeology of Oregon
Online version of the book by Dr. C. Melvin Aikens published in 1993 by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) as a part of its "Adventures in the Past" public outreach effort. The book is a "synthesis of the information available concerning the prehistory of Oregon" based on "analysis of the archaeological and anthropological data."

Council for British Archaeology Online
Founded at the conclusion of World War II, the Council for British Archaeology (CBA) held as one of its original objectives the "safeguarding of all kinds of archaeological material and the strengthening of existing measures for the care of ancient and historic buildings, monuments, and antiquities." Since its inception, the CBA has continued its role as a trendsetter through its work in establishing a peer-reviewed Internet archaeology journal and the popular magazine, British Archaeology. At the site, visitors can elect to sign up for an email discussion list (BRITARCH), learn about fieldwork opportunities, read research reports dating back to 1955, and take a look at the occasional paper series, which includes work on archaeology of churches and work on industrial sites around Britain. One additional resource that is worth a look here is the CBA Briefing area, which contains a monthly update on upcoming conferences, fieldwork, lectures, exhibits, and grants in the field.

Center for the Ethnography of Everyday Life  The Center for the Ethnography of Everyday Life is the fourth in the Sloan Foundation's network of centers devoted to the study of working families in the United States. Hosted at the University of Michigan, the Center's Web site presents useful information about the Center's ongoing research projects, their personnel, and opportunities for post-doctoral fellowships. Much of the scholarship at the Center is informed by the approach of cultural anthropology, but a host of perspectives are included in their projects, including those of social work and sociology. Perhaps the centerpiece of the site is the Working Papers section, which features different works in progress. Recent titles include "Taking Culture Seriously: Making the Social Survey Ethnographic," "Media in the Middle: Work, Family, and Media Use in a Middle Class Midwestern Town," and "The Farming Family: Work, Character, and Change in Rural America."

eHRAF Collection of Ethnography  With over a quarter million pages of information on all aspects of cultural and social life, the topics range from religious practices to causes and cures of diseases.
