The Anthropology Department has allocated funds for MA and MAA graduate students to travel to academic meetings or professional conferences.  These funds allow students to gain professional experience through participation in regional or national professional organizations in one of their fields of interest.

Funds are awarded according to the following criteria:

  • Students must be giving a paper at a conference and must have received an official acceptance letter from the conference organizer(s).

  • Students must complete a one-page application form available from the Graduate Coordinator and append to this form a one-page abstract of their paper and a copy of their acceptance letter.

  • Awards will vary.  For regional conferences to which several students are going, the department may provide funding for carpooling.

  • Preference is given to students who have completed at least 15 hours of graduate work.

To apply for a graduate student travel award, fill out the Application for Travel Award form. Submit it and the required attachments to the department’s Graduate Coordinator.
