Archaeology Students should consider the following:

Students wishing to pursue a career track in archaeology must participate in an archaeological field school.

Graduate programs expect students to have completed a formal field school program.

bullet

Most federal and private agencies hiring B.A. level archaeologists require a formal archaeological field school.

bullet

Participating in an archaeological field school insures additional field work opportunities during your undergraduate program.  It is to your
advantage to attend field school as soon as possible--and it is encouraged.

Boise State University enjoys a reputation of providing quality training through its field school program.

Many students attending the BSU field school have secured salaried positions working as archaeological technicians for the Bureau of Land Management, the Forest Service, as well as with university programs and private consulting firms prior to graduation.  Field school often serves to develop the network that will afford you field and research opportunities during your years at BSU and upon graduation.

BSU has placed numerous field school students into positions throughout the area and region.

Over 80% of field school participants have attended graduate programs or work in the field.

The BSU field school is one of the least expensive in the nation.
